Building on the successful adoption of its 96-well microPLAtes across Europe, Green Elephant Biotech, in partnership with Labscoop, is enabling US laboratories to transition from fossil-based consumables to plant-based microtiter plates. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to embedding sustainability into everyday laboratory practice, accelerating the transition toward a future where responsible labware is the default choice rather than the exception.
Gießen, Germany – 17.02.2026. Green Elephant Biotech announces that its plant-based microPLAtes are now available on the Labscoop Marketplace, with inventory held directly in the United States for fast and reliable delivery across North America. This setup allows laboratories to order PLA-based 96-well plates “microPLAtes” through familiar procurement workflows and receive them without international shipping steps, customs delays, or additional paperwork.
The Green Elephant® microPLAte is a 96-well plate manufactured from polylactic acid (PLA) using industry-standard injection molding. The plate offers high performance, quality, and compatibility with common analytical, screening, and imaging workflows while reducing material-related CO₂ emissions compared to polystyrene. microPLAtes are available in clear, black, and white versions and are offered in 25-piece and 100-piece pack sizes; 3-plate sample packs will also be available.
Key Features of the Green Elephant® 96-well microPLAtes:
- Sustainability: Manufactured from PLA, the microPLAte reduces CO₂ emissions by about 50% compared to polystyrene plates, supporting institutional sustainability targets.
- Accessibility: Local US stock and Labscoop Marketplace integration provide a simple, procurement-ready ordering route with rapid delivery across North America.
- Quality: Manufactured in Germany under a ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system using established injection-molding processes for consistent plate performance.
“Ensuring local availability of our microPLAtes is an important step toward simplifying access for North American labs,” said Dr. Joel Eichmann, co-founder of Green Elephant Biotech. “Ordering and receiving the microPLAtes will now be super easy for US customers. We believe that our products can support laboratories in reducing the environmental impact of routine workflows, and with US stock on Labscoop, integrating sustainable plates into daily work becomes straightforward.”
The Green Elephant® 96-well microPLAtes are now available for purchase. Researchers can explore this and other products from Green Elephant Biotech on the Labscoop Marketplace here.

About Green Elephant Biotech
Green Elephant Biotech was founded with two driving forces: making advanced therapies more accessible by changing how cells are manufactured and making the life sciences industry more sustainable. Our CellScrew® is a compact 3D-printed system that streamlines adherent cell expansion from research to clinical manufacturing in Cell and Gene Therapies, vaccines, and biologics. We also apply plant-based bioplastics to conventional labware, including the Green Elephant® microPLAte, a PLA-based 96-well plate. Founded in 2021 as a university spin-off, we operate from Berlin and Giessen with a growing international team.
About Labscoop
